While we all love _why&#8217;s unique writing, his article on meta-programming was a bit opaque, and less than enlightening (let&#8217;s be honest &#8212; sometimes we just need a dry, straightforward technical reference).</p>
<p>Enter these two gems.  <a href="http://www.klankboomklang.com/2007/09/21/the-singleton-class/">&#8216;The Singleton Class&#8217;</a> and <a href="http://www.klankboomklang.com/2007/10/05/the-metaclass/">&#8216;The Metaclass&#8217;</a>, written by Patrick Farley.  Genius stuff.</p>
